Dominick Michael Heid passed away on the morning of Sept. 6, 2024, at his home in Pagosa Springs. He was born to Gregg and Vicky Heid on May 21, 1990, in Aurora, Colo. He was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Joseph Heid, and is survived by his wife, Genae, and three children: Arielle, 6, Ty, 4, and Everett, 8 months.
Dominick and Genae moved from Denver to Pagosa in 2016 to escape the city for life in a small town. Dominick was an avid snowboarder and hiker. He loved the backcountry and Wolf Creek Ski Area. He also spent a lot of time in his “Man Cave,” which was his garage, making things out of wood. His biggest love was his family. They hiked, biked and camped together every summer, and the last two winters he began teaching Arielle how to ski.
Gregg, Vicky, Genae and the kids express their heartfelt gratitude for the help they received in cleaning up the property and the numerous meals brought to the Heid house. When our family experienced this unexpected death, the outpouring of love from friends, family and members of a variety of church communities here in Pagosa and beyond helped us work through the sadness. We love you all.
A rosary will begin the memorial on Sept. 28 at 11 a.m., and the funeral Mass will begin at noon at John Paul II Catholic church on 353 S. Pagosa Blvd.
